Hi, I need some help please.

I have a computer with a Intell processor 775 lga, 2GB memory RAM, Hard Disk Sata 80GB.

I have Windows XP OS. We are trying, my friend and me, install Windows 98 SE in a another partition, to play old dos games with more compatibility(like Duke NUKEM 3D) , and when boot, the windows 98se bootable cd rom try installs in another partition(make it partition magic), he installs ok, but when computer boots, the error: windows can not boot anymore, because shows message error: memory insuficient. It is memory compatibility error for Windows 98? Because is DDR2 533MHZ.
I hide the partition that have XP to install 98 int another partition, and the letter that assumes in other patition to install(free) is C:

I need any ebook to install 98 and xp in a same hard disk, if is possible!

Thanks, Alexandre, Brazil.

What you need is a boot loader that works with 98+xp
gag does

If you have lost the XP boot up you can run fixmbr but must you run fixboot from the recovery console to mend the overwritten partition boot sector and possibly also need to reset the correct partition as active using FDisk or BiNG.

If starting from scratch you can use the MS method of installing Win98 first and then install WinXP, which will create a dual boot menu.

If you have both OSes installed into their respective PRIMARY partitions then any decent boot manager can be installed to give you a dual boot menu. I like BiNG but GAG and XOSL and SBM are three freebie offerings (as indeed is GRUB on a floppy).

2GB may well make Win98 unstable particularly with any embellished graphics. If problems then try Safe Mode (rather than removing RAM) and modify the settings to exclude 1.5GB from use by the system.

If you just want DOS for games - then why not just install DOS or are you happy with booting to the Win98 DOS.
