23" samsung 720p tv (pc flicker low resolution)

I have a 23" samsung hi-def tv I use for my desktop monitor it only works in resolution 1024 *768 if I put it higher then that then it goes off the screen also when I play certain games it flickers I realized why if I put my screen in 800*600( which is only resolution many of my fav games use as there 500 years old) it flickers it also does it if I change the desktop to 800*600? Please Help!

it wont let me edit my own posts so im just going to have to double post the tv is actually 1080i model LN-R238WA if that helps sorry if Im being too confusing please ask me questions.

Update the Video card drivers.

Still flickers, the update only limited my resolution selections now :( still flickers.

what mode is the TV set to?

it might be flickering due to incorrect "Hertz" rate
