I have had my pc for a while now and well its not keeping up with my needs. I love gaming, video editing, ripping, burning, surfing the web naturaly, and of course running programs like limewire and torrentz. The problem is I like speed so I do all of them at the same time. I want to build my own pc, but dont have much sense in it all.

-MOTHERBOARD-
EVGA nForce™ 780i SLI Motherboard
Good chioce, but SLI... better would be the X38 chipset/ motherboard
-CHIPSET-
NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Chipset
All 780i SLI motherboards have this chipset. Chipsets "define" the motherboard. the X38 from intel is quite good.
-PROCESSOR/CPU-
Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9650
VERY GOOD CHIP, but not sure it will run in the 780i SLI
-VIDEO CARD- [We call it a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)]
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra may need two
good, but only if you get a SLI motherboard (for two GPUs). The ATI 3870 X2 is also pretty good.

already included if you get the above case

DDR2 800 speed MIN. (if you want DDR3, go ahead and get it, but tell us the Mobo you are GETTING first!)

HD-DVD is dead/ no longer supported. get one B-DR (blue ray burner drive)
-Os/Operating System-

How about a triple boot? XP/MAC/VISTA (you can even add Ubuntu lunix into the mix!)

well, it is very close to top of the line, but the 8800GT is the min. we recommend for games. (very good price/performance ratio)- but it is not the top of the line card- the 8800 Ultra or 3870 X2 are the top of the line cards.
everything is very good.

get a 780i MOBO
get 3 x 8800 ULTRA's (tri SLI)
Good chioce, but SLI... better would be the X38 chipset/ motherboard
Only get X38/48 if you plan on crossfire they do not work with SLI
VERY GOOD CHIP, but not sure it will run in the 780i SLI
It does
Get DDR2 1066Mhz 4Gb will be fine
Also get a WD raptorx 150Gb HDD they are super fast stick Vista and games on there and your sorted =)

About the X38 supporting SLI there seems to controversy (if that the right word :p) it seems like you need a hacked BIOS so i dont advise that.... but im not 100% sure that intel board support SLI
wheres saph when you need him :(

I was going to use it for both. Work and fun.
I decided on going for the 3870 x2 but I guess I will have to use the 8800 since it doesnt work with sli. Checked out the 38x and the 780i and the 780i is better enough to be worth it. Since I am planning on going to ddr3 1600 minimum, and I dont think 38x supports ddr3
DOnt know what MOBO is
Been looking for corsair model of the ddr3 1600, but I heared it was out of stock/no longer manufactured. Any suggestions for memory. Something I wont have to touch or mess with for at least a year and half.

There are no current chipsets that support SLI, without the above mentioned BIOS hack that George talked about (not recommended). You have to go with the 7xx chipsets to get SLI. This is a bummer. :( Although the 780i is still a very good chipset. :)
And yes the x38 does support DDR3. But there are several boards that are sticking with DDR2, so you will have to look through them in order to find the ones that support DDR3. It's up to the manufacturer of the board what they want to put on the board.
The 7xx chipsets do not support DDR3. If you go with a 780i board make sure it supports PCIe 2.0. Most do but some do not. And double check CPU compatibility at the manufacturers website. You don't want to get all the parts, turn it on and nothing happens because it doesn't support the CPU you choose or doesn't support it without a BIOS update or something. ;)

I just noticed that you would need to remove the BFG Tech AGEIA PhysX Physics Accelerator, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality Champion Series, and ATI HDTV Wonder TV Tuner from that build. That board only has two PCI slots and both of them would be blocked by the two duel-slot video cards, leaving two PCI-E X16 slots open and the RAID card would be in one of them.
You could install the Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality Champion Series, and ATI HDTV Wonder TV Tuner if you buy two BFG Tech BFGR88768GTXOCWCE GeForce 8800GTX 768MB liquid cooled single slot video cards. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143085) If you do that, you might as well liquid cool the whole system.
The specs for that board are wrong at Game PC, it does not have any 133 MHz PCI-X slots (look at the Intel link)

yes, but you need to buy Windows, and the support might not be "there"
A MAC is MUCH more expensive to buy and to "upgrade" than a PC

Motherboard: EVGA 790i ~$350
CPU: Intel QX9650 ~$1100
CPU Cooler: Zalman 9700 ~$70
(QX9775 not worth getting since it's .2 ghz more and $500 dollars more)
RAM: 4 GB DDR3 ~$300
Graphics Cards: (2x) Sli GeForce 9800 GX2 ~$600 each ($1200)
Harddrive: Seagate 1TB 7200.11 ~$300 (or 2x Seagate 500 GB ~$220)

Power Supply: Antec 1000W ~$220
TOTAL: $3668+taxes (and shipping possibly)
I'd recommend getting at least a 24" LCD to go along with that build because anything less will not take advantage of the extreme graphics resolutions this beast is capable of.
Also, you'll want Windows Vista 64 bit, any version that meets your needs will be fine, just so long as it's 64 bit to allow full usage of the memory.
This build uses onboard sound because I don't think you can even fit a PCI-E sound card on that motherboard with 2 9800GX2's plugged in.
Excellent build for high end usage and enthusiasts. Superior processing and graphical power.
Cheers.

The sli connector is under a cover on the front of the 9800GX2 so yes they do have sli, one thing you might want to think about with the psu is the 9800GX2 requires a one 8 pin and one a 6 pin power adapter per card. The 9800GX2 has HDMI on the card too. good choice on the 790i and every thing else.

The sli connector is under a cover on the front of the 9800GX2 That is why I thought that they didn't have one... :)
My CM 830 would work with a 9800 GX2 (or two if I had a different motherboard). My 3870 X2 is 10.5" long and I still have 4" between the end of the card and the hard drive rack. I could easily install that Skulltrail board two QX9775s and two 9800 GX2 cards in my case with room to spare. The only part that conflicts with a 3870 X2 or 9800 GX2 is the tray mounted cross flow fan, but there is an alternative mounting location on the swing out fan bracket. With 665 cubic feet of air per minute blowing into my case who needs the cross flow fan :D
