Hi all

Take a look at my latest proposal new spec PC, my budget is about £1000. What do you think of spec?
Can you see any problems with incompatibility with any of the devices?

You think I can get the parts cheaper? if so where? (Prices inc. UK VAT)

Case
Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570S GZ-FA1CB-AJB (Black) £ 82.19
Processor
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 95W G0 Stepping (Retail 775) £ 154.97
Memory

Motherboard
ASUS P5N-T nForce 780i Socket 775 £ 156.22

But why not get 2 x 8800Gt (extra £40 more but get rid of one raptor)

A zalman fan will be good if you plan on OC'ing the 9700 is good

Hey thanks for them links!

Why do you think I should drop a Raptor? as I was thinking of using RAID 0 on them for super fast read\write access.

Any Zalman fan in particular??

Thanks

Im no pro on HDD (leave that to pual) there is a substantial difference but whats more important graphical power or game/OS load up time (we only talking a matter of seconds here)... i think graphics :p

The 9700 is good

either the

BLACK and GREEN (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-027-ZA&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=821)

or

ORANGE and BLUE (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-026-ZA&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=821)

2 x 150GB Western Digital Raptor SATA 16MB £ 119.79

Presumably that is 119.79 each.

Nothing wrong with the HDD choices and the board supports RAID via NVIDIA MediaShield™ should that ever be wanted.

Yeah that is each (£119 = £238 total) and the board does support Raid.

Whats the nVidia Shield? will I need this support?

i need a good balance of good boot up time and gaming really, any ideas how to acheive this.

Thanks

Its the software component for controlling any RAID arrays that are created. It's only needed if you want to create an array.
