XP home. I would like to install 2 USB outlets in a TV room to control the remote PC which is connected via HDMI to the flatscreen in the TV room. I see standard/passive cables are limited to 16.4'. There are repeater cables which supposedly can be combined up to 80': http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812150035 However, this would require 6 cables for 2 outlets, (i.e., 2 cables made up of 3 combined units each. I'm assuming there's no way to "split" the single USB into 2 independent outlets, correct?) Is there any other way I can get 2 USB outlets 40' from the PC? Firewire, maybe?

TIA

Fred

get a USB hub,and daisy chain it up using the repeater cables.

With the USB spec limiting cables to 5m there isn't much you can do without repeaters or powered hubs.

Sure you can, just run one cable and have a USB hub at the end where you want it. A powered hub would probably be best since you will be pushing it already it with all the repeaters just to get there. ;)

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the replies. So it looks like I'll need 3 of the repeater cables & a USB hub, about $70 total. Not too bad.
