Hi there http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am thinking about updating my PC. does anyone know if the P4 processor will work on any motherbord?
I am thinking about getting a new Pentium 4 1.5GHz processor and a new 30GB hard disk and installing windows xp on it.

I am not sure if I need to buy a new motherbord or not. I have a AT motherbord.
Any advice on how should I go about doing this?

Yes you will have to purchase a new motherboard to use the P4 chip-it has a greater pin count than the P3; however-i would ssuggest you go with AMD or at least wait till next spring because Intel is releasing another bversion of the P4 with a different Pin-out so if buy a P4 now, you'll be stuck with having to uypgrade to another motherboard if yyou decide to get an upgraded P4 in the future.

Not to mention that the new Athlon XP's ( palamino's ) are cheaper and outperfrom the P4's using DDR memory, which looks to be the standard in the future. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
