I had to send in my Zoom router as it died after 7 months. They sent it back and it has one of the same problems that started out with the original modem. All the appropriate lights are showing but I will get server not found. This doesn't happen every day but often enough to be irritating. If I disconnect the Zoom router/modem and plug in my older Westell straight modem, it connects quickly. If I then switch back to the router, the router will work. Zoom thinks it is my system not the router. Is there a simple was to check this out? Why would a modem work with absolutely no problems but not the router combo? I would try it out on another persons system but everyone we know is using a cable connection or dish.

See if you can get to your router page. I'm not sure about zoom routers so i don't know the ip to get to that routers page. Check the manual. If you reach the zoom router page then it's your router which is not automatically initializing itself to get your wan ip. If so , try updating the routers firmware.

EDIT: Also you can try rebooting the router by holding the reset button in the back for about 20 seconds or so depending on the router. Most are about 20 seconds but some can be 10 or 30.
