Wireless HP mouse crap

I am having problems with my 4 year old mouse , it will not work... after experimenting with it I realized that if I kept the mouse 0-4 inches away from the transmitter device it will work but as soon as I lenghthen that distance the mouse would stop working. Like I said before the mouse is a wireless HP about 4 years old. Anyone, had the same problem or could enlight me on the cause of it. Thanx

silly me I forgot to mentioned that on the topic , batteries were replaced with new ones. Thanx for having mentioned that.:)

I don't know if your mouse is old enough to use info-red or not, but if it does, are you sure the reciver and mouse aren't all dusty and filthy? a quick wipe down with an alchol swab may improve things.

I have a HP Wireless mouse 4 a year and it is mesen up so much,
I hate Wireless mice and will never buy one. (mine came with computer)

My comp came with wireless mouse and keyboard. They both are crap!!!
