View Full Version : External Video cards?
I just recently bought a HP dv6650us that has 2gb ram, 1.5ghz intel dual core, 200gb hard drive, and Intel Media Accelerator X3100(i thinks thats right). The only thing holding me back is graphics. Is there anything on the market that can help me. I know it is near impossible to replace a graphics card internally, but it there an external video card I could buy. I would really like to be able to play games like call of duty 4 and new games in the future.

Its not impossible to replace/upgrade an internal video card on a laptop.

Its a different model from yours, but the theory is the same. remember to document what you remove and the order its done, so that you can reassemble it properly later. You may want an extra pair of hands while you do it, so ask a friend for help.
If you're squeamish about breaking in, however, there are USB (external) cards for PCs. Some information you may be interested in about the big 2:

Possibly a PCMCIA Card (http://www.villagetronic.com/vtbook/index.html) might be a consideration.
