I get online today and my quick tab's are gone plus my file, edit, etc... are gone. After doing some researching, I found out that you can plus Alt key and it will pop back up, well I got that fixed. Now will I disable my quick tabs my home, mail, etc...buttons will appear, when I enable my quick tabs they will disappear. I have reset my IE 7 but to default and reset my settings and still nothing. Anyone has this happend to them before and on a side note my windows xp theme is gone and now stays on classic any ideas on that? I ran AVG and spyware doctor and nothing to be found.....

Thanks,

John

restarts tend to fix... 50-70% of all software (read: windows) related problems...

15-20% are related to viruses/ malware

15-30% are driver issues.

~5% is "random" (ie: does not fall into the above categories)

NOTE: percentages are NOT accurate (in fact i made them up right now), but the general idea is "there"- the spread is "accurate"

Actually, you are probably pretty close to 'accurate'...

But, you left out one area of 'problem'...genuine hardware problems, and after that PSU item I posted the other day, I'd say the largest percentage of hardware problems are power supply related, followed by RAM.

A problem like was posted here is more likely than not to be a 'software' problem...when features of a particular program are not available any longer, then something in that program is usually to blame. With most of them, the first plan of attack for troubleshooting is to reboot. If that fixes it, then it was a temporary 'glitch'. If not, then it is time to move on. With browsers and other 'web' programs, the next step should be checking into malware infections, for games and such, the second step would be drivers. There is also the fact that sometimes updates 'break' things, so that should be the third step.

this was a software issues,
for hardware related issues, i find:

05-15% Failed PSU
05-15% Capacitor problem
05-10% CPU failure
15-20% Motherboard Failure (includes CMOS)
15-25% RAM failure
~5% is other hardware failure (GPU, etc)
40-50% is Hard drive meltdown.

70% of the problems are caused by poor cooling/ventalation

Note: see my previous post for accuracy
