Is this a used computer you are trying to sell?? A new computer you are thinking of buying?? Please be clear... Also, if this is at a site, give a link to the site so we can see what you are considering without all the confusing extra verbiage or consider editing out the garbage so it is clear what you are actually looking at getting... If it is a brand name computer, it is also a good idea to say what brand... If you have a proposed price, what is it??

To build that machine it must cost around 1500 USD, so maybe its worth 2k?

hmmm im not sure its $1000 if you are selling and its used you will get about $900 and if buying just under $1300

PCI-E VGA : Geforce 8800GT:1024MB QTY: 1
SLI VGA : Geforce 8600GT:1024MB QTY: 1

thats not possible it wont be SLI

System Board : Asus nForce 650i SLI, 8GB Max, SLI, RAID,1394, S/PDIF, Audio, GbLAN. [ P5N-E SLI ] QTY: 1

sucks for SLI you will only get
x8, x8 were as a 680i or a 780i board you will get x16, x16

Power Supply [ PSU ] : Antec TruePower Quattro, 1000W Power Supply [ PSU ]. Model: TPQ-1000 QTY: 1

overkill a 620w will be fine

CPU Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700, LGA 775, 2.66GHz, 64-Bit Quad-Core, 2x4MB Cache; 1066MHz QTY: 1

waste get a Q6600

Operating System : Windows Vista Home Basic - 64 Bit Edition - w/ DVD set QTY: 1

OK how is it not possible to have sli and pci-e graphics card? They are the same thing... You need two PCI-E slots to use 2 SLI graphics cards in tandem... If you do not use 2, SLI is not helpful...

You can use an SLI mobo and an SLI graphics card without using SLI... So yes, it is possible...

i was just stating that it would be useless if he got two graphics cards and his MOBO didn't support SLI :p

i wasn't questioning you budfred :o

SO it is useless to get a card in sli and another in the pci-e?

What would the mobo just use one? or would they (crossfire)

Thanks,

L.C.

I am not sure what you are asking... You need two PCI-E slots and two SLI graphics cards on an SLI mobo with the hardware link to connect the two in order to use the SLI function... You can use just one card on an SLI mobo, but you won't have SLI function...

Also, the cards need to match (and need to be Nvidia cards for sli)
ex: 8800GT 512 would SLI with ONLY another 8800 GT 512

an 8800 [ANY] with a 8600 [ANY] WOULD NOT SLI TOGETHER.

IM back!

you can combine diferent 8800 GT's (ie. 256mb and 512) but the better one will slow itself down to mach the slower one.

yeah, but you loose the positive effects of the extra 256 MB (will make a difference in newer games)
