Hi There,

I have been asking this question to people for ages and still can't get a response so you guys are my last hope.

When I change the keyboard repeat rate under the Keyboard icon in the control panel in Windows 98, is this making a change directly to the System BIOS settings typematic buffer rate or is the change happening to some setting within the Op.Sys files??

Anyone that can answer that would be muchly appreciated

Cheers

Beno

No when you change the repeat rate in control panel it dosen't change it in the BIOS it changes it in the Windows registry. I don't think there is any BIOS settings that can be changed from windows.
Windows registry will override BIOS settings.
The Typamatic BIOS settings are mostly for backward compatibilty with MS DOS (and should be ignored when using Windows just like Windows does)

Yep, everything you change in Control Panel makes changes in the Registry, not BIOS. BIOS can only be changed before Windows or any other OS loads, during boot. After that you're dealing with Windows Registry, or in Win3.x you're dealing with ini files. In DOS...ok I won't go there... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
