Ooh I don't know what its rated but it is 750W
that is its rating, what manufacturer?

A cheap PSU can fail for no apparent reason.. and have bizzare side effects

so.. its a good brand...

the next culprit would be the video card and/or monitor.

is the card dusty? Is it making a lot of noise? Use a Can of Air to dust it.. (DUST OFF brand)

how old is the monitor? What kind of monitor? (LCD, CRT)

What game?

It's probably silly to ask, but there are still plenty programs out there that are not supported by Vista and won't run on 64 bit. If its an old game, it may simply not play on DX10. May we assume that it is only this game that is malfunctioning, or are other programs going schizo?

I have 32 bit
COD4
halo 2 for Windows vista

and the card is new.

That discounts the game(s). If it were just one game malfunctioning, it might be a bad/old program. Call of Duty 4 and Halo 2 are both new enough that they should be getting Vista support, however...please do double check their websites in the meantime (as I don't play them) to confirm they do or don't have any patches out.

The card can be brand spanking new and it may still require driver updates. Have you tried updating the drivers for you video card? Double check with ATi that you have the latest drivers for your card (for vista).

Umm...just what the hell does update drivers mean?

Yeah, Ati is your video card...it runs by using drivers supplied by Ati...the hotfix is a patch to said drivers...how much more helpful do you want? One of us to come to your house and fix it for you?

And to tell you the truth, just saying 'update drivers' is not all that helpful, because the problem could have been something else entirely...

glad to hear you fixed it.

i should have suspected driver problems... but a bad PSU might also cause the same/ similar symptoms

i think that the problem is we are not "there" to figure out...

all we hear is a description of the problem, it may or may not be a complete description...

and sometimes, one description might have several causes...

or we make assumptions... (like, he already updated this)

for example, i assumed, that you already updated all the drivers when i made my PSU recommendation... (thats what i do when i get a new part/ hardware)

i am having a hard time explaining this right now..
