Today Iam having problems with my internet disconnecting for a few seconds and then reconnecting, and then disconnecting again via my desktop pc. At first I thought it was my isp but when i connected the same usb modem to my laptop it works fine.
I reconnected my modem to my desktop pc, reinstalled the modem software and then ran a spyware/registry program and my anti virus but still kept disconnecting and then reconnecting and so on...I then tried a system restore to yesterday as i know the connection was stable then..still nothing.

I dont want to format my pc as i have a lot of info on there. What else could be causing the problem?? I havent installed any new hardware that could be conficting with the modem infact i had it working perfect yesterday and when i turned it on today thats when this problem started.

Anything else i can do apart from what ive done already?

Is your ISP Telefonica de Espana?

HI. Yes it is Telefonica-Espana.

I dont think its a problem with them as ive had to use the internet connection with my laptop at the moment. This is running great with no disconnections. I tried my connection again in my desktop pc about an hour ago and it started disconnecting and reconnecting again.
My Modem is USB so i checked out other usb ports and the problem was still there. Ive ran spyware and NOD32 in safemode 3 times and it hasnt detected any virus. Something must have messed up the xp settings but i havent installed any new hardware and i have the windows standard firewall. I was thinking maybe this can be looked at in the logfile I have posted but im no expert so im not sure if this will help.

The annoying thing is I can usually fix my own PC of any viruses sucessfully but this problem has beaten me so far.

I really dont want to reinstall xp and format everything.

Any other ideas or info appreciated.Ill keep checking reguarly.

The reason I asked is that Nameserver setting in your log...if it wasn't your ISP, then that could be part of your problem.

Does your modem offer a CAT 5 connection as well as USB? Might be worth trying to connect using a network cable rather than USB and see if it helps.

No it doesnt offer Cat 5.These modems that are given by telefonica arnt up to sctratch. Anyway Ive solved the problem and ill tell you how I did it incase someone in the future has the same problem as me.

It is a program called WINSOCK or for my OS it is called WINSOCKXP and its a small program that opens up and fixes broken connections due to malware etc. Somebody recommended it to me and I wasnt sure if it was going to do the trick but it worked.I have left the PC on now for 14 hours and it hasnt disconnected once.
Good for future reference!!!
