slik - you might want to be alittle more verbose in your posts...

Are you are referring to difference in megahertz between a pentium4 and an athlon?

The fastest Athlons are running a slower speed than the fastest pentium 4's. This doesn't necessarily mean an athlon is a slower performer - athlons theoretically do more "work" per cycle than an equivalent speed pentium 4. There is also the memory setup that plays into this as well (rambus vs. DDR) This is why AMD started their new naming scheme 1800, 1900 etc. that is supposed to convey that an athlon 1900 (running at 1.53 I believe) can "perform" like a 1.9ghz Pentium 4. Test results demonstrate that AMD may even be undercutting themselves as the athlon 1900 beat or matched the pentium 4 on benchmarks except for the quake 3 test, I believe.

In any case, don't use megahertz as the ONLY thing to judge performance by.
