Hello,
(VISTA Home Premium 64)
I restarted my computer yesterday and when it loaded, it took a very long time, and all the icons loaded up very slowly. AVG had an error code message, and everything was loading slowly. I re-downloaded AVG and repaired it from the installer like normal. I restarted my computer and everything worked fine.

I go to watch Terminator 2 - Blu Ray with KMPlayer, as normal, but now it is really choppy, and not watchable. The same movie plays fine in XP via the same KMPlayer (I dual boot).

I do a 3DMark05 benchmark and get 17000+ marks, which is typical for my system....

Any clues why the performance loss? Any suggestions welcome.

Check your video drivers
especially if they were updated

Nvidia driver updates don't take into account desktop and playback
Only game performance

At least that is what trashed my video playback

had to step back a few versions to get them working correctly

Auto update ?

No, I haven't updated recently and the movie worked, so it's not drivers, and like I said 3DMark05 worked fine. Should I do memTest or HDD tests? Or should I just reinstall KMPlayer and see what happens?

I changed a setting in KMPlayer to run at 1Ghz and it played fine.
