I just recently jacked up my ram from 256 to 512 on a Win98se machine. My question is, although windows picks up the ram, it doesn't seem to know how to use it. I've noticed no improvements at all and even all my games (especially the hardware intensive ones) are running at the same frame rate as it was before. Why is this?

Just because you plop in another stick of RAM doesn't mean you will actually "see" an improvement, but trust me if you would compare what you have for performance now with what you would have if you ran with only 64MB you would see something. There are tremendous increases going from 64MB and below to 128, slightly smaller going from 128 to 256 and almost no visible going higher...but there is some improvement.

With all Windows apps you also have other limiting factors that are not RAM dependant...system resources, these are limited areas of memory that are used by Windows for things like the buttons and boxes, other control features, certain dlls and the like...
