(First post)

I have a GateWay GT5228,

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
2gig DDR2 ram
250Gig hard Drive
300w power
Nvidia 6100 onbord gfx chip

im wanting to upgrade to a,

im upgrading cuz my little 6100 just cant pump out the power for the games i play, i have Very limited funds and that mite be a bit high for me. Will i need to upgrade my PSU? if so what shuld i look for that is a very reasonable price?

I can't guarantee it, but I think that card will be OK with your current power supply. It's at least worth a try. That card does not require huge amounts of power. If you have problems you can worry about getting a better one at that time.

I recommend you go with the 8800 gt if you want to get your money's worth. For less than $200 you get performance to rival much more expensive cards.
You'll also find that 256 MB of VRAM to be a bit lacking. Go with the 8800 gt 512 MB, you'll be glad you did.

300 W PSU is barely enough for an 8xxx series card, by itself...
