View Full Version : Someone stole my account on pokerstars? And can see my desktop to boot!

I just logged into poker stars.com and someone stole my account. The really scary part is that this person must also be able to see my desktop, and everything I do online, too because instead of having my normal login name in the bar, they had BBC News... BBC News is the first link I have in my Links bar, displayed on my toolbar...

what can I do to get this guy off my computer?

PS. I should also mention that i just recently reconnected my comp to the internet, and my anti-virus is expired, for now. And I know how stupid it is to play online poker without an uptodate anti-virus program but I did it and here I am.

Normally, i'd never play poker on this comp because i know it isnt safe but the other day my friend transfered me a dollar, which i somehow turned into 70 dollars. And within 24 hours of leaving my computer it was gone..

The first thing I would do is pull disconect from the internet. Then I would install a couple Firewalls that don't interfere with each other (other people here may have a better idea what will work for this step). Then you should be safe, but makesure to change your passwords as well.

Thnks for the help. I've just d/l COMODO free firewall pro. I also d/l AVG anti-virus, which I am using to scan my comp as I type this.

What else can I do?

also, do i have any legal recourse or am I just out my money...?

Send an email to the site's Tech support or contact them some how. as for what else you can do, I am not sure as I don't use sites like that. You may also want to check any credit or debit card you have tied to your account, along with any card you have used on that computer.

Also, i did find some files that were infected with a trojen after i ran my scan but AVG said it cleaned them. Idk, i hope my comp is clean now but i could really use some expert advice. Thanks in advance.

Please read the instructions here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix) and post back with a combofix log and a new HJT Log.

Do not put them quote boxes they are harder to read.

hey, buddy from the other board. i tried to run combofix but it keeps stalling on me. the first time all did was load up the screen and nothing else. the second time it got phase 3 or whatever its called and stalled again.

I don't know whats going on.

Try running it in safe mode and let me know what happens....
