Right now i have a 8800GT and i am still in the window for the step up program through evga until the 20th of April and I was wondering that if i should keep the 8800GT or get the 9800GTX. Which one would be worth my while. Thank you.

The 9800GTX is a really good card but i'd wait for a while longer till nvidia strikes again or maybe ati might come out with something better...You never know. Your 8800 is good for now unless you want to play every single new game on highest settings.

Since you have the step up program definitely get the 9800gtx

I'm in the same boat. How much time do you have left? If you have a month or more I would wait since the price will probably drop a little more.

have a look for your self the 9800GTX is just above the 8800GTX and will probably beat the 8800GT by 25-30% i do recomend waiting or going the full way and getting the 9800GX2 :D but it depends what you want really,
-if you want to be a casual gamer on a low budget get the 8800GT
-if you want to be a hardcore gamer on a low budget get the 9800GTX
-if you want the best of the best and something that will last a good year get the 9800GX2

Tom's hardware did a really great benchmark on this; I actually did a step-up just recently to exchange my 8800 gts 320 mb with the 9800 gtx. The benchmark helped me make my final decision.
The performance of the 9800 gtx was better than the 8800 gt across the board by a significant margin, but for the price performance ratio the 8800 gt is still an amazing card. From the looks of things, nvidia basically took the 8800 gtx and added a bunch of chips to it.
It's not too likely that Nvidia will release anything better than the 9800 gtx soon; they are still rolling out the 9 series and will probably ride it for a while. I don't see the 10 series coming out any time soon. I am sure that there will be a 9800 GT coming around to fill out the mid-range gaming card bracket, but the 9800 gtx is the closest to the 9800 gx2 you're going to get until the 10 series if past trends are any indication... for example 8800 gts < 8800 gt < 8800 gtx , 8800 ultra... so we'll see.
Unless of course they go and change the gpu... the gpu in the 9800 gtx is the same as the gpu in the 8800 gt... the g92.
But anyway, the step-up is a no brainer. Do it!

Agree of both points. The 8800GT is a great card. No it can't play Crysis on very high settings. Although it will auto set everything to very high it is pretty laggy. But it will play it on high settings pretty well at around 25-30 FPS. A little laggy at times but quite playable, for me anyway. Some people are just not happy with anything less than 40fps, but if you can stay around 30 most of the time I am usually pretty happy. Keep in mind this is just Crysis. Everything else I throw at it it just eats it up like a snack.
I may very well step up to the 9800GTX myself. It's just a matter of budget. Needing a new roof on my house takes precedent. :D
