Can someone please advise me on how i can get rid of this thing, i use bitdefender and when i do a virus scan it picks it up Dialer.BT but then says disinfection failed, then moved, it picks it up again on the next scan, i have googled it and it says that it dials premium rate phone numbers, so i need to get rid of it asap! please help!

How are you connected to the internet?

Does your computer even have a modem?

If it doesn't have a modem, then it can't dial anything...check your phone bill to see.

As for removal, it may need to be done in Safe Mode...what version of Windows are you running?

What AV found it and can't remove it?

hey, im on a laptop which is connected through the wifi, we do have a modem, we are with virgin media and have broadband, i have seen on the phone bill before strange numbers called 'ngeo' and strange words which charge more than a normal phone call, i use windows vista basic, i have gone in safe mode and system restore'd but it stays on the system. i hope this helps? bitdefender internet security version 10 is the a/v i use, actually, im not sure if the actual laptop has a modem but we have the wireless router which is then pluged in to the modem, couldent the virus dial through the seperate modem?

A broadband modem and a dialup modem are not the same thing. The broadband modem in no way dials anything. If you are using DSL, then your broadband modem is separating the analog phone service from the digital data service.

That is a good thing in this case, because, if it were to actually have access to a phone line, things would be worse. Now, that isn't to say that those mysterious charges aren't caused by this thing...there are oher ways it can hurt you.

With Vista, I'm not sure how to go about removing it...but start by posting a Hijack This log...http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=60009

Please do the following:


Download this file - combofix.exe (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop (it needs to be run from the Desktop). Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log for you.


Note:

Do not mouseclick Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause the program to stall...

Then:


Re-boot the system
Post the Combofix Log
Post a new HJT log
Tell us how the system is running.
