I had a virus blocking the task manager, but I seem to have gotten rid of it with PC Pitstop exterminate. However, now my Task Manager will not open with CTRL + ALT + DELETE or anything. Can anyone help with this?

Hi,

Go to Start > Run
Type:regeditClick OK.
On the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top.
Go up to "File > Export" Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch.
Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files".
Under "Filename" put backup

Choose to save it to C:\
Click save and then go to File > Exit.
This is so the registry can be restored to this point if we need it. It may take a minute or so. Just let it go until it's done.

Next, go to kellys-korner (http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm) (Well worth bookmarking)..:D
Scroll down to #51 Look over to the right for "Enable the Task Manager" Right Click on the link and select Save link as or Save target as (depending on your browser).. Save it to your desktop.. Find the file on desktop, Right Click and select "Merge" (Allow the prompts / Click Yes) etc.. Reboot the PC

Should do the trick..;)

I think you are not clean and the system is still infected. Please read the instructions here (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=60009)and post a hijackthis log.
