I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 running Windows XP. I have a strange problem. My laptop, as the title says, will only connect to wireless internet if I set up a static IP. Which is fine at my house, but its a laptop. Meaning I take it places, like school. I have confirmed that it's not my router, because I took it to work. It wouldn't connect to the wireless network there automatically, I had to set up a static IP just like at home. This is troublesome at school, since have to use automatic IP to connect. Plus, it's just plain annoying. It's not always done this. I can't remember exactly when it started doing it, but I'd had it for at least a good 2 years before it started. I have no idea what I or my computer might have changed to get this to happen. Help?

Just tell me what system specs you need and I'll post them.

Check under services...is the DHCP service running?
