im trying to get an ac3 dvd movie to work on my windows media player..... i downloaded ac3 filter and for some reason it stops wmp from even playing the video without sound, and when i go and uninstall it the ac3 filter the video will play again but with no sound... does anyone know what i can do? is there another program out there to play ac3 other than wmp? thanks

you could also convert the file. Super is a decent tool to do that. It can be found here (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html). If you don't want to convert files, VLC is the better choice.

I don't believe so, I stopped using WMP for videos though.

Media Player Classic (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Media_Player_Classic.htm) is another good free media player. You can also get Real Player Alternative and Quick Time Alternative at the same site. They will play those files with having to install the system taking over bloatware.

I also stopped using WMP a long time ago. It isn't good for much any more. Too many issue like you are having. ;)
