IM planning to buy a laptop coming week and im in love with the pavillion series. Im sorry forgot to introduce myselves, My names Vikram and i live in middle east where we don't have all that good range of laptops. Anyhow im very confused between the core 2 duo and AMd 64 turion. Which of the 2 is better.Even realised that AMD's are cheaper. My use shall be normal but shall be viewing a lot of movies and games. So i want a processor that is good with graphics with no other disadvantage. So can some one please some time for me and explain me the difference between the 2 processors and also suggest me which one shall i go for.

Thank you

Comparing the two depends on which models of each. Generally, a Core 2 duo is faster and more expensive. My laptop has a AMD Turion processor only because I felt it was the best value at the time. I wouldn't reject a laptop because it included either of the CPUs, because they are both quite capable. Other features may be more important.

its not really a matter of rejecting or something, but i was just trying to get the difference as im planning to buy one soon. To be more specific i would put it as this way- AMD turion 64 X2 v/s Intel Core 2 duo. Which ones better and faster..and basically wats the idfference between them. Wat shall even be the negative sides of each of em. I had consulted roughly regarding this and he said that graphics are better on AMD but its get hot quickly! any comments??

Intel all the way, they are more efficient and the chipsets with the MOBO are alot better all round go with intel 100%

Vikram, it is apparent to me that the Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors are currently better in every way. If you're looking for the best performance in a laptop, stay with them.

Up until 2 or 3 years ago I'd have said go with AMD but now Intel is firmly ahead of the competition in areas of price, performance and reliability.
