I have windows vista and have located the worm VBS GaScript after running a scan and stored it in the chest, can i delete this file? My system keeps freezing in the IE homepage. I have tried a system restore several times and this seems to help me gain access to the internet. I have also run a prog to repair the registry. Any suggestions welcome.

1. Unless you intend to use the file memory.dmp to analyze a previous crash to find out what caused it...
It's no use to you, so you may as well delete it.

2. "I have also run a prog to repair the registry"
These are hazardous and often do more harm than good; be careful.

3. "located the worm VBS GaScript after running a scan and stored it in the chest, can i delete this file?"
You should post another thread in the "Applications and Security" forum [link it to this thread] asking to have your HijackThis log analyzed.
I'd erase such dangerous files, not just delete, or "Shift+Delete".

4. "My system keeps freezing in the IE homepage. I have tried a system restore several times and this seems to help me gain access to the Internet."
Keeping and maintaining...
Or else restoring...
The file perfection of the Operating System and Programs...
Is something that needs...
A Philosophy and a resulting Strategy.
How long have you got?
And can you handle it?
At its most basic:
(a) Your Operating System and installed Programs...
Begin their life in a perfect state [they aught to in theory, and probably do in practice].

(b) Then with every change that takes place there is the possibility of an increase in software CHAOS, or a decrease in the good order of the software [folders & files].

(c) Ideally you'd..
(c1) Prevent nasty changes, or else...
(c2) Immediately reverse them, when/if that fails.
Both of these require an input of WORK [it's a physical law].
I'll save the explanation of my favorite methods of counteracting the nasties for next time provided you are interested.

Hi Sylvander

thank you very much for your advice, although i dont understand half of it  lol but i will delete the file. I found after running the prog to repair the registry my pc seems faster, hopefully i wont have to use it again if they are risky.
