unwanted file/program

Hi guys,
I have an unwanted program that tries to install at every startup.I suspect it came with something I deleted from e-mail.
first it comes up with the box,choose the program you want to open this file.
[The file can not be found on this PC.] Next a box with "preparing to install photo gallery" appears and asks for the installation disk,which I have never had anyway.After a couple of shots at cancelling/closing this it goes away untill next startup.This is a bit annoying.The program does not appear in "add/remove programs or the search facility. I have XP sp2 home edition.
How can I get rid of this?Can I find it in the registry and delete it,and how?

Look first in the startup folder of Programs, delete it if there.

Is anything new running in the system tray?

It could also be stopped with HJT if you post a log.

back again,
I have found the `y`ything in the startup folder but can not delete it.
Message says; "can not delete `y`y etc access is denied.
Make sure disk is not full or write protected and that file is not currently in use."
Where to from here?

Open Hijackthis and place a check next to:

Close all open program and browser windows except for Hijackthis and click fix checked.

Re-boot and post a fresh log.

My post re.this seems to have disappeared,however I have received advise from Classic software to check `y `y `y `y `y`y `y `y `y in hjt and post a new log.
This has removed the file and thankyou.
The program Photo Gallery is still trying to install itself.The message says;
"The feature you are trying to use is on a cd-rom or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert the Photo Gallery disk and click ok".
I think this program may have something to do with MSN ??

Well, it being a generic photo gallery, it was hard to say, but yeah, it does sound like something that has HP written all over it...now, after the fact.
