I want to save money on Internet access and was wondering if anyone is using these services. I would appreciate some feedback. I noticed the Premium package allows for more than 10 hours a month, but it's not clear if that means unlimited hours for the $9.95 monthly fee.
I currently use RoadRunner cable, but it keeps going up in price and it's hard to justify the cost since I only use one PC and use the internet mainly to play games and do Fantasy Sports.
Thanks in advance... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Also Read the fine print on that $9.95 a month and Over 10 hours a month.
You will find that in most cases it is billed by the minute or they will send you a notice that because of your use rate you must pay the full access charge.
Normal full isp rate.
If you play online games try tracking your on line time or net usage .
It doesn’t take long to use up that 10 hours.

also - Juno has you agree (by using them) that you must keep your computer ON at ALL times so that they can use your computer for ?
on another note: This site seems to have outgrown it's server capabilities. I get increased errors and it is OFTEN very difficult to even post at all. I can only imagine what dialup users are going through.

I've been having problems too. At one point I was "told" that flood control was on and that I couldn't post again for 60 seconds.

the above was not a "complaint" per say... just wanted to see if it was just me.. or if site admin was aware of this increased problem .

And I can't even get cable or other high speed access...
Have you gone to ISP.com ? You may be overwelmed by the choices. I'm happy to say I haven't paid more than 9.95 for dial up in quite some time - no ads and no personal info required.
I use Hawk (www.hawkcommunications.com). Depending on local numbers, you can avoid any setup fees and pay only 9.95 month to month. If you are willing to sign on longer, it goes down from there. Unlimited, no surveys, no banners. I think they toss you off after 8 hours of continued connection but you can reconnect within 60 seconds.
Haven't had any busy signal issues - service has been pretty consisent. They don't offer a free month - just a 7 day money back.
There are many options out there, and it may be better in the long run with a local than one of the few remaining "free" ISPs. Your cost can be as little as $10 all the way upto $25...part of it depends on what features you are after and what level of support you need from an ISP...

Have been using netzero as a backup ISP for about 2 years now, and aside from going from 40 free hours down to 10 http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif , haven't had any problems with them. They use a somewhat intrusive ad banner that is always visible.Haven't had any connection problems,, but I use it rarely.
I agree with mjc re: a local ISP thou. Had one here in Connecticut, then it was sold to Galaxyinternet in Indiana, but am paying $15.00 per month, so I stayed with them....also, imho, software such as AOL,Juno,Netzero, etc. are intrusive software in the sense that they try to take over dial-up settings, and basically make changes to your computer{possibly spyware as well} without your knowledge. cheers,~pawprint~
