willing to buy a new tower. actually using amd 3800+. i know amd is going slow a bit but i dont spend much. my choice would be an amd x2 5000+. well i core 2 4500+ or 6500+ was on my list but viewing the price am really interested in amd.

Any suggestion would be most welcomed.

thanks.

i would go with the E6500 but saying that you will need a new MOBO.

How much you have to spend?

you say you have a 3800+ is it an X2 also is it socket 939 or AM/AM2

well i will be buying a new mobo, RAM, VGA...complete change. i think performance wise core would be ahead the 5000+ by 10%...correct me if am wrong...but i wont be needing do much power....and considering the price amd processor is better placed

always always always always always ALWAYS go with Intel over AMD. Why? More bang for your buck. The intel chips currently outperform equivalent AMD chips. For that matter, I've heard a good deal of anecdotal horror stories about the new AMD chips.

i would not have gone for intel when socket 939 was out. i still am using my amd 3800+ which running fine. today intel with its core architecture is further ahead and i admit it that it would be the best choice. so if get more bucks i would lean towards intel.
