what is a replicator ? do i need or want one ?what do they do? who has them? thanks
A Laptop Replicator is a Port replicator .
It is like a docking station .
It allows you to put the laptop into it at home and use the devices that you would normally not take on the road with you.
Like the full size keyboard, scanner, network card, monitor and printers

WYD,
What Rick said but it also keeps the ports from getting damaged on your laptop if you go mobile alot. If I remember correctly some laptops with video out capability require a port replicator to support larger sized monitors. I think the reason for this is because the laptop power supply is insufficient in supporting the larger monitors and the port replicator brings in more "juice" http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif to the unit.
