Howdy all
It's been said that there are no dumb questions so here's mine. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
I have a dual boot(98SE and XP separate hard drives) I had InoculateIT installed when the computer was 98 only. Now when I do a scan it appears that I can have it scan the XP drives as well. Is this correct?
As I'm typing I'm thinking that while I can scan the XP drives this way I don't have the benefit of the "real time protection" whatever that does for me.
always questions
any thoughts for me to ponder

If you installed XP on a fat32 drive partition then yes you can scan it from win98
To get the realtime protection/scanning you will need to install it a second time Into the XP partition inside of XP.
When you install it again in XP you will also be able to scan your 98 partitions

Thanks Rick
I did install XP on fat32 so I guess that's why it scans OK.
If I remember I tried installing InoculateIT when I first installed XP and it would work OK for scanning but it would not let the real time protection work so I gave up on it for the time being.
I just happened to run a scan for the heck of it ( all clean ) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif and thought I'd ask this question

Not only can you scan for virus's but you can defragment and run scandisk. They run faster and they do a better job because there aren't any open files in the other OS. I'm using Ontrack virus scan by Trend micro the same company that makes PC-cillin. Ihave it installed in ME and XP seems to work well in both OS's.

I think Windows XP and Microsoft use more of my bandwidth than I do!

Howdy and Merry Christmas
I have just installed InoculateIT PE on my XP machine again and again it has gone smooth except for I get a message that real time protection is not supported. I click OK and it goes ahead and finishes installing. It scans OK and updates OK but the real time protection is not on. Is it even worth having it installed without real time seeings how I can scan for the 98SE drive.
Also If I were to install a different AV on the XP drive that was different than InoculateIT which is on the 98SE drive am I asking for trouble?
thanks for any more thoughts

The only real problem I can fors ee with having two different AV programs installed is the possibility of one putting a file in quarantine and the other seeing it during a scan of that quarantine folder on that drive.
If it were to delete or move it then the possible conflict of double entrees may occur.
I have 2 versions of the same software installed. NAV 2001 on 98se and 2002 on XP
with no hassles.
I see no other reason why have PE on 98 and say NAV on xp should be problem
