My Sony VAIO notebook has begun sparking from the AC adapter port for the second time. Supposedly, this is a common problem with the model, said the first repairman who re-soldered in a new port for me. It never seems to hold the adapter in properly, either - it falls out continuously.
Anyhow -- is there any way that I can repair this myself? (And hopefully, do a better job...) And if not, is it really worth fixing again?

Interesting read...head down toward the bottom of the articles to the post by Anonymous. He found the problem not to be the adapter plug itself, but how it is affixed to the motherboard...

The best solution I can offer to this kind of a problem is not to buy sony products :)
All kidding aside though, their reputation for quality control is pretty poor and while I've never owned a vaio pc I've been through enough sony cd players, playstation consoles and other devices to know that their products are not particularly durable.
