Hi All,

I am having a problem with this computer I built about 2 years ago (specs listed in my signature)--basically, when I connect the computer to my router (ethernet cable) my computer will see the connection, attempt to connect, and either fail, or only get limited or no connectivity. Then sometimes it'll go through, but drop again within a few seconds. I've tried a couple of different ethernet cords to no avail.

Any idea as to what might be happening?

Thank You!

New router or new problem? Why would you be plugging it in and out?

Well it is a new router in my new apartment, but this problem actually started a couple of months ago in my old apartment (with my old router). I tried plugging it in and out to see if it was a bad ethernet cable, etc.

Your best bet is to try a new Ethernet card. You should be able to pick one up for less than $10.00

Would something simple like this work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127147

Rather than swapping the actual ethernet card?

Why would you spend $20.00 when you could spend $6.99 on this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156117)?
