I have lots of videos on my computer and I put it on a portable device as it is a portable device and I have good headsets already the movies are naturally very quiet for quality purposes well basicly I want to boost the db? or sound of the video so it is nice and loud are there any good programs to do this I have many video/codec converters but none have the option to actually increase the volume of the sound db? I use to have a program that could do this... also im on vista but if nececary I can go xp on my virtual pc... I already know I can reextract the audio higher it in a sound edting program and recompile but its so ridiculous and time consuming and my old converter could do it automaticly upon reencoding with another codec.

I don't know much about re-encoding the audio, but try adding a headphone amp to your portable device. The best headphones in the world aren't going to deliver real high quality sound without a headphone amp.
