So i just installed my new EVGA Geforce 8800GTX. Everything seemed to be running fine but when i try to start certain games nothing happens for a few seconds then i get a blue screen of death.

Some games still run fine, tried company of heroes and it ran fine, but when i tried Splinter Vell: Double Agent and Rainbow Six Vegas. i get the BSOD.

I tried the drivers that the card came with and the ones off the Nvidia site.

Any ideas?

thanks,
Minus

What error comes up on the BSOD? That could help to determine what the problem is. I used to get "the driver nv4_disp.sys got caught in an infinite loop."

I uninstalled and reinstalled my video drivers and my mobo drivers and I was good to go. It's also possible the card isn't getting enough power. Do you have both of the 6-pin pci connectors hooked up?

Otherwise it may be a defective part, but if you can post the specific stop error we can troubleshoot more.
