Ok i got my new MOBO (look at sig) yesterday, and installed it all no problems.

But...

i dont know what the temp is of my CPU

on my old MOBO the CPU was at 35 degrees idle but on my new MOBO the temp reads 69 degrees idle (even when its not OC'ed)..

is there an accurate way of measuring the CPU temp?

on my old MOBO i used the Abit software that came with the MOBO

on my new MOBO im using Nvidia system monitor 6

thanks for any help ;)

Are you sure your Heatsink/fan is installed properly? I use the Nvidia monitor too and my temp reading is always accurate. The E6400 definitely shouldn't be running that hot.
Try coretemp and/or sensorsview and see if they agree with the nvidia monitor, but be very careful... you don't want to overheat your CPU! 69 is way too hot and if it's running that hot at idle you're risking damage once you get under load.
Make sure all 4 of the LGA 775 plastic forks are popped into the holes in the mobo properly.

69-70 F would be about 20 C, so double check and make sure the units are set correctly (you are used to using C...right?)

One of the first things I check, when faced with oddball readings, after making sure the heastink/fan is mounted properly, is the units.

i have a Zalman CNPS9500 fan not the stock but when i put the CPU under load the temps dont change.

At current it says my CPU is at 75 degrees but when feeling the heatsink it isn't that hot.

Yes plenty of thermal paste has been applied
