Hi,
I purchased Sony Vaio VGN-cr34GNB laptop. it comes with windows vista business preloaded (OEM) version. I want to install Windows server 2003 enterpriser edition on it. But when i put my bootable windows server 2003 cd , after few steps it displays no mass storge media found. and after pressig enter, the blue screen appears.
Please help me as otherwise this machine will be useless for me.
regards,

Before you try, you need to check with Sony to see if they have all the drivers yoou will need for a version of Windows other than Vista. Then you may need to change the BIOS/EFI setting to something like 'legacy' or 'compatibility mode'.
But the big thing is the drivers...without them, you will have a fancy looking brick.
If sony doesn't list the windows server 2003 cd
or other operating system support.
Then you have another option
In vista go into device manager and check the original unit specs.
get a list of ALL the hardware installed By manufacturer and version
Then go to the manufacturer of that device and search for the drivers for the version you want to use..
If It sounds Like a pain.
It is.. it took me a year to find and complaining at ALL these manufacturers to get Vista off my laptop ( Toshiba )
The Mass storage error is your older version (windows server 2003 cd)
Doesn't have the sata drivers

Thanx for your reply . but the problem is with the detection of hard disk. as bios doesn't provide any option for setting like 'legacy' or 'compatibility mode'.
Sony is providing Phoenix cutomized BIOS
