Greetings,

I am installing a Via PC2500E motherboard (PC-1 mainboard) with a C-7D processor in a Lian Li PC65 case. All of the holes line up OK without the rear I/O shield installed. The only problem is that when the rear I/O shield is installed the motherboard cannot be pushed enough so the mounting holes line up correctly. The rear I/O shield is being installed so the symbols or icons are visible on the outside of the case.

Thank you. Any ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the rear IO plate is completely seated
it should be hard to get it in and even harder to get it out

Also, quite a few IO plates have "guiding" rails for the motherboard I/O. One of these "guides" may be under your motherboard not allowing it to seat properly.

I always have this problem. It's lame. On every mobo I've worked with there are little metal prongs on the I/O plate that make it difficult to push the inputs into it.

I usually just bend them out of the way. Maybe it's not the "official" way to do this, but I've never had a problem with it.

Thanks. That worked. Everything is installed now. Just waiting for an OS. Take care.

Thanks for your input. If you wish you can also remove the firmware with pliers. Take care.
