no not at all
now the video card on the other hand could- it has "memory", though, if it does, just reboot- that RAM is volatile (meaning it is not powered)- and loses all data upon restart.

that's theoretically possible... if the virus were on a floppy that loaded at startup or something crazy like that and flashed the BIOS... but the chance of the user not noticing something like that is pretty slim.
A lot of users, when they experience a problem with their computer do the same thing doctors do when they don't actually know what's wrong... they say it's a virus.
Yes, there are some, but rather rare viruses that will attempt a BIOS flash...and now with Windows based BIOS flashers, the chances of success are even higher.
BUT...99.99% of the time, nope, a virus just affects the OS.

Mobo getting infected with virus or monitor...sort of curiosity...but who knows what technology reserves....
No you can not get a virus on your computer monitor.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that would always be the case...but as of right now, yeah, it is a big NO. About the only reason why it would be a NO is that any memory monitors currently have is of the PROM variety...that is Programmable (once) Read Only Memory...not EEPROMs (the most common variety of EEPROM is flash memory). But as soon as some one sees a benefit to putting flash memory into a monitor, someone would definitely try to write a virus for it.
I suppose, though, that if someone really wanted to get nasty, they could infect the monitors chip with something at the factory...that way when the video drivers query the monitor for its specs, something else is along for the ride.
Hey, you can buy pre-infected digital photo frames...why not pre-infected monitors?
