Hello all,

I have a small problem, I just ordered a few barebones items.

An MSI K9A2 Platinum motherboard

and

A MSI MSI RX3870-T2D512E OC Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card

The problem is, they come with no cables! I didn't realize that until after I placed the order and I really need to know what cables I need!

Specifically the Video Card, I mean motherboard cables are pretty easy to understand but I need to run my video card to a VGA monitor and I need to power it. Please help me identify and find these items. Thank you so much.

If your talking about this Video card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127315

it should include everything you need.

IF it doesn't then cancel the order and tell the seller to stop stripping the box

Even the OEM's include cables

Actually if you look at that same card, from newegg(where I bought it) it's only 80 bucks for an openbox, but comes with no accessories. I just bought everything else I need except the power cord for the Video Card, so if anyone can find one please let me know.

Well, that is one of the problems with 'open box' items...but the full retail version listing should tell you what cables you need.

It does, I have everything except the thing that makes the 4pin from the power supply run to the card. It's a cable adapter, and I can't find it anywhere to buy it. So if anyone knows where to find it I would appreceate it if you could let me know. Thanks again guys.

Or does your card require only 4 pins on the PCI-E
I was able to get a look at one of the detailed views of that card
It requires the 6pin PCI-E

$2.99 from newegg

FYI
Here is the search term I used to find it
"Molex to PCI-E power cable"

you don't need any cables for your motherboard other than the ones running from your power supply.

For your video card you just need a DVI or VGA cable, that's all. No big deal. Your power supply SHOULD have at least 1 pci-e power connector. If it doesn't, you probably shouldn't use it with pci-e cards. You can use the adapter that turns 2 p6 molex connectors into a single pci-e connector, but you really shouldn't have to :)

Of course if you have an outdated psu and don't want to spend money on the upgrade, the adapter cable is a good temporary fix.
