Video capture & Printscreen problem
I can use PrintScreen on Windows Media Player and it works on my XP laptop but won't work on my XP desktop.
Also, I can edit Moviemaker on my laptop but it freezes up on my desktop.
Codex?? Any ideas.

In the XP installation on the desktop PC...
Has the Clipbook Viewer been included as part of the Windows XP installation?
See this. (http://www.pctoday.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles%2F2004%2Ft0208%2F11t0 8%2F11t08.asp)

Although I don't think I have ever used it, I see it in the System 32 folder.

You use it [without knowing] every time you copy and paste etc. :)
Without it being installed [and functional] you cannot do these things.
It provides the memory location that things get saved to and copied from.
e.g. Whenever you hit 1=Print Screen or 2=Alt+Print Screen, an image of 1=[the whole screen] or 2=[the current window] is saved in the 3=Clipbook Viewer storage memory location.
When you then paste the image into Paint [or whatever], the image is retrieved from 3.
Have you tried viewing the contents of the Clipbook Viewer after something has been copied to it?
What do you see?
In my Win2000Pro I have both a "Clipboard" and a "Local Clipbook".
If I have my Clipboard open, and then hit Alt+Print Screen, the image of my active window appears in the clipboard window.
I go to the "Window" menu and tick "Clipboard" to display the Clipboard window rather than the Local Clipbook.
