Im about to order and build a PC, my requirements are gaming and encoding, i have £1000 to spend, i dont need a monitor, speakers or wireless.
Here is a spec i have put in a basket on scan.co.uk which includes vista home premium 64bit from amazon, so the complete price of this would be £937.78.
Could someone with more knowledge than me  look at this and offer alternatives, for example i could get the q6600 cpu instead of the q9450 and save 95 for something else e.g gpu.
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

That PC is fine you have selected the best possible parts ;)
The Q9450 is alot better than the Q6600 and will give you a long time of happiness :p

Bollocks on the 8800 GTS. go with the 8800 GT. It's a better card and it's cheaper.

Nah the 8800Gts is better.
the 8800Gt may be slightly better band for buck for the 8800Gts has more power

Also its only 30 pound more which is worth the extra performance

that benchmark seems a bit off to me... the 8800 gts 512 outperforming the 8800 gtx? First I've seen of that I'm afraid... maybe I'd better look over all that again. Perhaps I confused the gts 512 with the gts 320/640 which is a totally different card.

It's the old G90 gpu isn't it? I actually had the gts 320... I was happy to trade it in. The G92 cards are sooooo much better.
