6-cell or 12-cell battery Is there a difference?

The HP website lists the battery for my Pavilion dv6000 as a 6-cell battery. A fellow on eBay is selling a slightly used battery also for a Pavilion dv6000 for much less, but says that it's 12-cell. What's the difference and does it matter?

The difference is what type of cells. Lithium cells require less of them to get the same voltage than NiMH. They also hold more energy which equates to longer run times.

With that said I would never buy a used battery. Reason being that you never know what state the battery is in. It could be on it's last legs and can only hold a quarter of its original charge.
