I am using a Maximus Formula motherboard. I upgraded the BIOS to 1102 and then restarted the computer just like it said. The next thing I know when I turning it on it says bad bios checksum. And then it starts the BIOS recovery program. I put in the support dvd and it says that it erasing, then it goes on to say programming. After that it says to restart the computer to get the system back. Well everytime I restart it just keeps do this process over and over again. I never get the system back. If there are any recommendations it would be helpful. The asus website says that it offers a 3 year warranty on mb, but it says to take to the reseller. Well I'm in Korea and I bought this mb off of ebay, so what can I do?

Try rolling back your firmware to the previous version. It sounds like it's a bad firmware update.
Also rule out that it's something silly like leaving the DVD-Rom in the drive.

Once you reboot it.

You should enter the Bios setup program.
Then find and LOAD the system defaults.
( This loads and replaces the old settings also erases old bios problems)

Then set it to auto detect for your drives.
Then Exit and save

if you still get a check sum error

Double the check the Jumper on the mother board that allows bios update and put it on the normal position ( IF not already there)

Also make sure your Battery is good

Well that's what the bios recovery is trying to do but it's not going back to the older version. Also it doesn't even get to the bios screen to where i can use anything. This is only 7months old, so i think the battery is still good.As for jumpers, I have no idea where they are at if this motherboard has any.

That May in fact be the problem..

Many makers design their board with an Update Jumper.

This prevents people from accidentally over writing the Bios and causing problems.

Allow update in the bios settings or a jumper is normally required

The Asus site lits a number of ways to do it.

Go to your manual.
Section 4.1.2 and use that to update/restore your bios

using a USB thumb drive or a floppy drive
