Banned..."yes that is right!"

For spamming nonsense into a myriad of threads.

I can tell where all the threads you removed his posts from by lonely ol' Sylvander saying 'Mods alerted' in threads started (all of them) in the year 2000  I just wonder if there is some coincidence as to why ALL of them were from that time era.

Doesn't Syl's posts belong here as well? He's not alerting an old thread but is alerting us to an annoying poster.

PS
or Edit:
Don't you DARE say
yes that is right
;)

You're correct FTT I'll see about removing them and adding them to the Nonsense thread... ;)

A done deal...

And Sylvander -- thanks for notifying us... Please note that you only need to do maybe 2 of those -- 1 to note that the attack has started and the other to say there are a bunch of them... We can track down the rest...

Okay-doke. :)

Previously I didn't even post when I notified the moderators, and you said to do that.
I thought the idea was so that others knew the mods had been notified regarding any/each particular thread so you didn't receive multiple notifications.

I take it you're saying that you'll be able to respond so fast that just won't get the chance to happen.

No... I am talking about the notifications, not the posts that you add... If you send one or two notifications for the different garbage posts, that is usually enough...

I and I believe the other Mods appreciate the notice, but when we get 14 at one time, it is a little too much... If it is the same person doing all of those inappropriate posts, we usually will find them quickly when someone checks out the notice... If other people get to them first and decide to report them, that is fine... It just isn't necessary for the first person on the scene to track them all down and report them...

Addendum...

Using the 'Find all posts' link in the perp's user profile makes snagging all the crap easy.

So the thing to do is.

Send only 2 notifications [would 1 be enough?] saying there are multiple junk postings.

And then post in each thread that the mods have been alerted.

This so that others don't go sending multiple alerts.

How's that?

mjc

Pretty much...

No more than two alerts. One is enough for me.

I agree... However, I would use a little judgment on whether to post in each thread... If it is a phone SPAMmer, or something along those lines, starting new threads - it may be worth the hassle to post in each one since others will quickly see the mess and want to deal with it if they don't think someone else has... If it is like this one, when the excrement is in multiple existing threads and unlikely to be seen by anyone not subscribed to those threads or looking for odd activity (like the Mods tend to do), I would probably just mark the one that I used to send the notice and not hassle with the rest... It is a matter of what you prefer in that regard though...

I immediately spotted all of those posts in a long list because I normally go to...
Quick Links->Today's Posts.

Because he had only just recently posted them all one after the other in a short period of time they were all listed together, as being posted that day but not yet read by me, and also stood out as having the same posters name, which is a most unusual event.

Even if the perp is adding to existing old threads they do come up in the "New Posts" tab... I search the new posts tab regularly for new activity... So, it might indeed be useful to put a "Mods Notified" into the multiple posts so others viewing the "New Post" will know it's being dealt with. And, in a case such as this where there turned out to be so many it would also be an easy way to boost one's post count...and Sylvander, yours is looking a bit meager these days! :D

I would agree to give us the one or two notifications with the note that multiple posts have been hit.

As mjc pointed out...we just search all posts and the crud all comes to the surface...
