Hello all,

I am looking at building a PC using a Q9550 when they get bumped down becasue of "pre-nahalem" price cuts(around Q4 2008) I was wondering if I could get a good motherboard suggestion.

I at first was looking a the X38 or X48, which would be alright, but those boards do NOT support SLI. Now the reason I want to go with Nvidia is becuase I've read and heard that a 8800 or 9800 by itself will outperform a 3870 for about the same price. ALso, even though I am going to start with one card, I want to be able to add another in the future. Thats why I want a chipset that can support SLI and not crossfire X.

So which would be a good chipset to use? What is the best Nvidia(or SLI supported) based board for around $250 or under?

Any suggestions would be apprecitated. Thanks!

If you want DDR 2 MOBO with SLI go with the

EVGA 780i MOBO

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188024&Tpk=evga%2b780i

its $259.99 only $9.99 over but its the best ;)

Thanks for the suggestion,

I was looking at the 780i boards at newegg, and they seem pretty good. I guess I was looking also at the EVGA model, so thanks for the help. Now I have confirmed my choice.
