Howdy Gang,
Part two of my thread, "Replacing a Motherboard - Poll" starts out with me bestowing kudos on MJC.
MJC suggested in my first thread to run Regedit and delete the Hkey_Local_Machine/Enum folder before powering down to replace the motherboard.
Well tonight I finally got around to continuing my MSI K7T Turbo2 motherboard installation. I had done exactly what MJC suggested before I powered down and swapped out the motherboards.
I powered back up with just the bare necessities, you all know what they are, and of course there were no motherboard IDE drivers or anything else loaded, so my harddrive was running in MSDOS compatibility mode and Windows couldn't find my CD-ROM or CDRW. And of course, I needed the CD-ROM to load the motherboard drivers.
So, all I had to do was run the Add New Hardware wizard and upon reboot, Windows found and installed its own generic drivers for everything. Then, I merely loaded the motherboard driver CD and installed the VIA 4 in 1s and a couple other utilities.
After that, I installed my soundcard and modem, one by one, and now everything is back up and running. Oh, and I must say, I'm liking the MSI mobo so far. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Just thought I would post my experience for the enlightenment of all. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Cheers,
