HDMI Problem Gateway T-1628

I just bought a new laptop, a Gateway T-1628. I hook up through HDMI to a Mitsubish HDTV, but I get these green-blue colored lines that run through the TV. The card is an ATI X1270 which could not support 1080p. I am running the most up to date drivers. Also there doesn't seem to be any sound if it is HDMI supportive. Any thoughts. As for the display issue - I haven't encountered it (yet).
