So I obviously have a Pionex with windows 98.
and here is a list of the things that happen.
and maybe you can tell me what is wrong :(

Turn it on
does a memory test thing
brings up the microsoft scan disk. because it was umproperly shut down.
the HDD light is red.
Power Light green
Comes to the main page and brings up a task bar with start, and the time
the mouse has the hour glass and then the time box goes away.
and it just sits there with the hour glass.
and you can't click anywhere.
but CTRL+ALT+DEL works and its says explore not responding
before this happened it wouldn't start with the internet usb cord plugged in the back.
so i would just plug it in when it loaded the background and icons and it worked fine.

but if i start it with the usb internet plugged in the back it brings up the blue screen that says

windows
A fatal exception 06 has occured at C16: 0000DE54. the current application will be terminated.
*press any key to terminate the current application
*press CTRL+ALT+DEL again to restart....ect. ect.

press any key to continue

and when i do that.
it comes up a blank background with no task bar and sits there with the hour glass.
and i've waited a half an hour to see if it would do anything and nothing happened.

the computer came with a recovery disk
and i tried using that.
and after it told you the options and asked if you wanted to proceed this error came

Error:Back up images not found.
Unable to preform restore.

UGH!
please help:mad:

What happens if you connect it after you load Windows 98? Like, after you get to the desktop? 9x can be very finicky with USB devices.

Could you provide your system specs and/or model #?

Not sure what is happening but here's what I would try at first.

Change the motherboard battery. Go back into BIOS and set it to the correct date and time. See if you get any further.

I would also slave the hard drive to another system and test (and repair) it for errors and malware or run a live disk such as Knoppix or Ubuntu to do same.

You may need to recover important files and reload 98(SE?)

OK. So answer these questions specifically please.

Do you have an operating system disk? 98, 98SE? Any other, like XP?

Is there a model number for your Pionex? And what is it?

You make that sound like a battery is collosal! :p It's about the size of a 5c nickel. :D

BTW, searching 'Pionex' seems a bit vague and spotty so the more details you can provide, the better if you hope to get somewhere with the help around these whereabouts in cyberspace otherwise known as http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
