So I recently revisited Doom 3 (I never did finish the game due to one level having no exit that I could find after hours of trying) and I have been reminded of what a total "oh ****!" fest the game is.
Every bit of Doom 3 has you frantically running from one tightly enclosed space to another, never knowing from what direction the enemy will come. Distracted by machines making noise and smoke, the environment falling apart and constant frenzied radio transmissons, you have to navigate the mars marine base in an attempt to get to the bottom of the strange invasion.
I can't count the number of times I nearly jumped out of my skin when I put my gun away to use my flashlight to look into a dark area only to hear an enemy coming up on me only to have to stash the flashlight in favor of my gun, leaving the darkness open for an enemy to ambush me.
Doom 3 might not be a sophisticated fps by any means... but it is certainly a fun and scary one!
